Module 6
This module reminded me the importance of not plagerizing when I am writing for school or for any purpose. It is easy to do when we have so much access to all kinds of information on the web and transferring that information is literally at the touch of a button. This module also reminded me of the importance of really being consciencous of my pt's right to privacy and protecting all of their information (HIPPA). I believe this will become even more important as we move into a day where even more information is stored online (PHI etc). I also see the need to educate my patients on the benefits and cons of keeping their health hx online and the access they can have to it. Through out this semester I have been reminded of just how fast we are moving forward in the heathcare field in relation to this technology.

MODULE 5
Completing this module was a eye opening experience for me. I realized just how much more I need to look to current EBP for the needs of my patients, as this affects my clinical decision making. It is amazing the technology that is being created as a way to better care for our patients as well as attempting to acheieve the BEST outcomes. By streamlining our care it allows all those involved (pharmacy, multiple providers, and nursing staff) to have a look at the goals and needs of each patient. New technologies such as If-then logic model allows for a better synchronization of care and increases communication between providers. I want to help make the best clinical decisions I can and to do this I need to be aware of and willing to use the newest technologies available to me.

Module 4
Education is I believe the number one most important thing we do as nurses. Whether we work on a medical floor, home care nurse or psychiatric nurse which is what I do. I believe it is the best "medicine" we can give our pts. Knowledge is power. The delievery of education is important as well. We must remain humble and allow our patients to be heard as well. I work on a 33 bed acute psychiatric unit where there is lots of education going on. We educate on diagnosis, medications, healthy lifestyles, medical technology just to name a few. To not educate our patients is doing them is not truly treating the whole patient. We use many forms of education on our unit. handouts, skill groups, video presentations, the tv has a hospital education channel as well. Social workers are also on our floor daily to help and educate our patients. I use apps that help me with medications and labs. We use our computer to look up a mirad of different medical subjects.
As nurses and soon to be APRN's education and knowledge will becom even more important and I plan to use every resource available to me in order to better educate myself and my patients.

Module 3
Searched: Sexual Trauma and PTSD treatment.
CINAHL is definately where my comfort zone is and find it easy to narrow searches and get full text articles (as well as it is easy to import into endnote). Pub med has great articles but they are not always accessable. I have never really stopped to think and use PICO technique before and plan to try to organize my information this way in the future.
P= problem
I= Intervention
C= Comparison
O= Outcome
I also searched NCH which I found to be a bit too broad topic wise and there were alot of articles that had absolutely nothing to do with the topic I was researching. Even after doing an advanced search it brought up alot of irrelavent information. Most of the information/articles were new which was great.
Google scholar search was interesting and brought me to more helpful overall information on the topic but as we know google is not always realiable. The biggest concern was the inability to access up to date information. I still felt that it was worthwhile to search google as it gave me an overall look at my topic. I would like a day where I could have someone who is very informed on searching the various indexes to show me all the different tricks.

MOD 2
I think attitude is important and a willingness to learn about new information systems that present at our place of employment. I hear and have even complained myself at having to learn to do new things on the computer or new charting. There are teams at most larger hospital systems that design and make new systems for hospital to use to reduce errors and increase effciency. I may not be able to be directly involved on one of these teams but when asked or surveryed I can be willing to help and when new charting or protocols come I can learn about them and be willing to given them a try without complaining! EHR and electronic information systems are the future, we might as well run with it.

Module 1_Introduction
Hi my name is Sarah Hoffman, I am in my 2nd year of the Psych NP program. It has been quite the experience thus far! I work at McKay Dee hospital in the acute inpatient adult psych unit, which I love. When I have spare time, I enjoy 4 wheeling, hanging out with my hubby and 3 boys.
Currently I am completing my practicum at the VA clinic in South Ogden. It is an honor to work with the veterans. I see technology being used by practitioners in the form of almost immediate access to clinical data on computers and handheld devices (such as smart phones). Almost instantly it is possible to bring up information on any psych diagnosis as well as evidence based practices for such disorders. Patients also have more access to technology than ever before and are being proactive in using this technology. For example: hospitals have links on their websites where patients and their families can blog and post updates as to their condition while hospitalized. A friend of mine also recently lost her dad to suicide and she has found it therapeutic to blog about her feelings in regards to her father commiting suicide. The evidence shows that technology is becoming more user friendly and an acceptable form of communication in health care.
